Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of OSTDB (the "Service"). By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you have any questions, contact us at [email protected].

OSTDB is a community-driven video game soundtrack database. Anyone can browse game soundtracks and find links to official streaming platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. No account is required to use the Service.

OSTDB is a non-commercial fan project run by an individual, not a company. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Spotify, Apple, IGDB, Twitch, or any game developer, publisher, or composer.

Signed-in users can submit a new game soundtrack or propose an edit to an existing one through the OSTDB website. By submitting data, you confirm that:

• The information is accurate to the best of your knowledge.
• You are linking to official, publicly available streaming releases.

All submissions are reviewed manually before appearing on the site. We reserve the right to approve, reject, or modify any submission at our sole discretion.

Submissions made on this website or through pull requests to the OSTDB/soundtracks repository become part of the OSTDB database. By submitting, you license your contribution under the same license as the database (see "Database License" below) and allow OSTDB to use, edit, combine, and publish it as part of the database, including under future versions of that license.

The OSTDB database, meaning the selection and arrangement of games, soundtrack releases, and the links between them, as published on this website, through the API, and in the OSTDB/soundtracks repository, is protected as a database under EU and Czech law (Directive 96/9/EC; Act No. 121/2000 Coll., §88 and following).

It is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0). In short:

• Attribution: wherever you use or show OSTDB data, credit it visibly as "Data from OSTDB (ostdb.net)" with a link to https://ostdb.net.
• Non-commercial: commercial use needs written permission. Ask at [email protected].
• ShareAlike: if you publish a dataset built from OSTDB data, release it under the same license.

The license covers OSTDB's own data only. It does not cover album artwork, game cover art, screenshots, game descriptions and other metadata from IGDB, or the names, logos, and trademarks of games and streaming services. Those belong to their owners and are used here only to identify the games and releases.

Developers can access OSTDB data programmatically via the public API. Data from the API is covered by the Database License above. By using the API, you also agree to the following:

• You may display OSTDB data on your own website or application.
• Any public display of data obtained via the OSTDB API must include a visible attribution to OSTDB, such as "Powered by OSTDB" or "Data from ostdb.net", linking back to ostdb.net.
• You may cache API responses to improve the performance of your application.
• Use the API for lookups, not bulk downloads. For a full copy of the data, use the OSTDB/soundtracks repository under the Database License.
• If you show album artwork or other content that comes from Spotify, follow Spotify's attribution rules: credit Spotify and link the artwork to the album on Spotify.
• API access may not be resold or sublicensed to third parties.
• We reserve the right to revoke API access at any time if these terms are violated.

• Do not submit false, misleading, or spam content.
• Do not attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer, or abuse the Service or its API.
• Do not scrape the website in a way that harms performance or violates these Terms.

OSTDB links to music on third-party platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music. Your use of those platforms is subject to their own terms of service. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or content of third-party platforms.

Game metadata, cover art, and screenshots are sourced from IGDB and used under the IGDB/Twitch API terms for non-commercial projects. Album artwork is provided by the streaming services. All of it remains the property of its owners.

OSTDB claims no ownership over game titles, soundtrack names, cover art, or music. All trademarks and copyrights belong to their respective owners.

If you own content shown on OSTDB and want it changed or removed, email [email protected] and we will handle it promptly.

The OSTDB website design, logo, and codebase are the property of the operator.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or complete. Soundtrack availability on streaming platforms may change without notice.
